About the book
It was specified to me by Roman Kames, director of Revue K (and artist), that only about half of the copies were actually created by Jirí KOLÁR!
“Once, in Central Europe, someone said: 'There are stories that ask to be told.'
Jirí KOLÁR is one of those who welcome, who gather these nomadic tales, these fables in search of an author. For a long time, he translated them into words. Now he offers them the strength of images, the intensity of collages. He lends them the sharp edge of razors and scalpels, the bonds of hair and strings. He connects them with faces, with breasts, with leaves, with the starry night, with light, with the silence and cries of animals, with rocks and waterfalls, with musical notes, with letters from multiple alphabets, with a thousand and one other things, with the shimmering variety of the universe.
By choosing the path of images, Jirí KOLÁR decided to address simultaneously those who know and love to read, those who know how to read but do not like to, and those who do not know how. All deserve to have stories or fragments of stories told to them. And every story has (one might say) a desire to be received by the greatest possible number of men, women, and children.”
(excerpt from the "Dictionnaire des Méthodes" - Revue K, 1991)
